Soldier

We read Harlan Ellison's story "Soldier" in class on November 9 and 11. This would be a good place to record comments about the story. You might also "push the envelope" and try to compare this story to "The Man Who Came Early," which we read last week.

  1. I liked this story because it shows the people doing something good. They are trying to save the lives of their future children. They try to stop a war that has not happened yet. IT is confusing though because if they do prevent it, the soldier wouldn't be in the past and therefore the soldier wouldn't have arrived in the past.

  2. soooo when i read this story i thought that in the very end it was basically saying that it was inevitable that the war happens. basically that the guy who came from the future was what started that war in the first place because of all the technology he brought back from the future.

  3. This story is very interesting. I liked how this story played out and truely showed how a time paradox could be played out and how no one really knows if they change the future or not.
